PDD/ AISH

PDD - Persons with Developmental Disabilities

AISH - Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped

This is an assessment as part of an individual’s application to secure essential support services, resources, and funding within Alberta.

What’s Included in a PDD/AISH Assessment?

The assessment includes:

  1. An intake meeting with the parent or legal guardian; the individual is welcome to join too. Together, we go over information about the assessment process, and gather information about the individual’s developmental, medical, and learning history. We also discuss current skills and functioning.

  2. An in-person testing session to measure cognitive skills (IQ).

  3. Complete rating scales to detail the individual’s current independence or level of support in their daily life activities.

  4. A feedback meeting to discuss the results and suggested supports.

  5. A comprehensive report that is shared with the family at the feedback meeting. This can be used as part of your PDD/ AISH government application.
